Covid Journals

We started our quarantine at Paraiso, a quiet hotel and refuge in Ecuador. Without any warning, President Lenin Moreno announced the ‘stay at home’ orders. Road blocks were set up, and we were left to navigate our way back to America. Two weeks later secured a ‘relief flight’ to Miami. We arrived back the day Governor Walz gave the ‘sheltering’ instructions to all Minnesotans. This is Journal #1, my inner narrative of the unfolding virus headlines and conversations with neighbors, friends and colleagues in St. Paul, Minnesota.

After completing Journal #1—Pandemic, there was a strong feeling in America that we were all done with this virus. Groups were protesting. The restrictions in most states were slowly lifted. Society was ready to get back to work, the economy was suffering. As early as Easter, the president announced it was ‘over.’ But realizing this was denial, the headlines continued to announce the science behind this deadly virus. Journal #2 continues my inner narrative.
