We arrived in Italy 3 weeks ago and felt at home immediately. Here, every sentence sounds like an aria! This is ‘the slow life’ and everyday we travel to a small city to draw and learn more about this complex history of the Puglia region. Here are some sketches from daily observations.
Alberobello is filled with houses that are called ‘Trullis.’ They date back to the 14th century. They have become very trendy and many are luxurious. We are renting this one from Angela and Pino for 2 weeks.
I bought this 8x11 sketchbook from Bridget O’Malley at the
Minnesota Center for Book Arts. I like it because some of the pages fold out into a triptych. The paper is Strathmore mixed media.
Last week we were on the Gargono Peninsula where we rented an apartment with this view of the Aegean Sea. The balcony was the perfect studio setting.
